0 The Life Creative

My love of writing starts with songs, but it doesn’t end there. Over the years I’ve done my fair share of freelance prose and copywriting as well, and it’s always nice to exercise those muscles.

A few months back, I was approached by friend Nacie Carson, career consultant and author of professional evolution guidebook, The Finch Effect, who asked if I would consider contributing a column to her site, The Life Uncommon, about my own creative professional life and all the ups and downs it brings. Of course, I was thrilled to be asked and couldn’t help but say yes. The first post in my “The Life Creative” column debuts today and covers rejection and disappointment – two things most musicians and other creative professionals are all too familiar with.

Feel free to visit her site and read the full post: On Rejection. And don’t forget to check out the rest of the site and Nacie’s book on Amazon!

We’ve been in the studio since January 2013. I came armed with fifteen (yes, fifteen) tracks that I had been working on for several months, and we dove right in to arranging, rehearsing, and perfecting them. Most of the recording didn’t start until April, and since then it’s been nonstop fun. I’m so excited with how these songs are developing and can’t wait to share them.

One of the best things about recording at Waterville Sound is their top-notch gear, like this gorgeous Mason and Hamlin piano that I got to play.

Isn’t it beautiful? It plays like a dream, too.

Here are a few shots from our early rehearsal sessions back in January:

0 Well Hello There!

I’m Jenna. I’m a songwriter, pianist, and singer, and I’ve been creating and performing for as long as I can remember. I’m currently at work on a new full-length solo album, and I’m so excited to share the journey I’m taking to complete that project with all of you. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates from the studio to the stage, sneak peeks of what’s to come, and all of my (hopefully) amusing ramblings.

Thanks so much for being a part of this!
